A Summer Field Course
in  Hel - 2000!

In August 2000 the third Baltic University
Summer Field Course  took place
in the small town Hel, Poland
on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea.

The Russian  participants represented
St.-Petersburg , Pskov and Kaliningrad.

It is the main building of
Hel  Marine Station,
there we had some lectures
and prepared  presentations.

It was a wonderful time full of
the interesting day-to-day work
and communication.
During these days all participants
could enjoy visiting the most popular
place of interest - Focarium -
there several funny seals are living.

 Students from different universities
of the Baltic countries could
find friends, communicate
about interesting and useful
topics, exchanged their ideas
about ecology and  education
in their home countries.

The practical example regarding the problems of the sustainable energy in Poland was presented in the excursion to the  hidro-electric power station.
It is situated in northern
Poland, near Wladislawowo .

Also during the course we visited
Nadmorsky National Park,
the museum  in Wladislawowo
and get acquianted with dunes
in Slovinsky National Park.

Everybody were fascinated by the pretty foka Balbina - the Baltic seal, who lives on Hel Marine Station.

In  few minutes of our free time
we spent in wonderful local pubs and
on the sandy  sea beach  (though
in  the end of August  the water temperature of Baltica was rather cool!) . Only the most brave students experienced with swimming
in the  Baltic sea.
